POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office has identified the pedestrian killed while crossing a busy Pompano Beach street Saturday night.

According to authorities, 25-year-old Rebecca Davison and her boyfriend, 26-year-old James Siravo, were walking eastbound on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of East Atlantic Boulevard at around 9 p.m.

Deputies said Davison crossed over the westbound lanes and stopped in the median. But authorities said when Davison stepped onto the eastbound lanes she was struck by a Volkswagen Passat driven by 45-year-old Scott Biederman.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue pronounced Davison dead on scene.

Detectives said the area where the crash occurred is not designated as a pedestrian crosswalk.

Authorities said Biederman was not impaired and remained on the scene.

BSO's traffic homicide detectives continue the investigation.
