BSO Identifies Man Found Face Down In Pompano Lake

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office has identified the man who was found dead in a Pompano Beach lake on Sunday.

According to investigators, a homeless man found the body of 41-year-old Rodger Smith Jr. in a lake behind a warehouse near 2170 N.W. 30 Ave.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded shortly after 4 p.m. and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives, who notified his family of his death, are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to Smith's death. However, they do not suspect foul play was involved.

The Broward County Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy, though the cause of death has not been determined.
