BSO: Escaped Prisoner Still At Large

WESTON (CBSMiami) -- A prisoner who escaped in Weston Thursday evening is still at large, according to Broward Sheriff's Deputies.

Deputies said they they were trying to arrest 21-year-old Damian Alexander Fernandez for non-violent property crimes. They were taking him to the BSO's Weston district office.

Deputies said Fernandez struck the deputy and ran away while still handcuffed near 17300 Royal Palm Blvd.

The deputy was not injured.

Investigators set up a perimeter from Bonaventure Blvd. to Weston Road, from Royal Palm Blvd. to Three Village Road in search of Fernandez.

Several hours later the search was terminated.

Deputies believe he may have left the area of Weston.

Fernandez is 5-foot-9 and about 150 pounds with long brown hair and several tattoos.He was last seen wearing black shorts, a white tank top and no shoes.
