DEERFIELD BEACH (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office finally located a armed man who barricaded himself inside of a Deerfield Beach home.

Deputies were called to investigate a domestic violence incident. Michael Kemp, 35, allegedly pulled a gun on his girlfriend around 1:30 on Monday.

"The suspect had a gun and was pointing it at his girlfriend she was able to call for help," said BSO's Gina Carter. "Our deputies arrived very quickly. Once we did arrive on seen the suspect fled."

Deputies said Michael Kemp ran about a block away and broke into a home, forcing the three people inside to get out. A perimeter was set up Monday night in the area of 241 SW 2 Court in Deerfield Beach.

Neighbors were forced to evacuate for safety as cops put the area on lock down and tried to talk Kemp into giving up.

More than seven hours after the stand-off begin deputies finally located Kemp inside the home.

Investigators said a K9 sniffed him out of a tiny crawl space where he was hiding.

"He was hiding there for a while we were able to track him down, we were able to get him out he does have a slight injury from the K9 which was able to track him into the space," said Carter.

He is now facing charges for aggravated domestic violence, aggravated assault and armed burglary.

The arrest is Kemp's sixth in Broward County.
