Broward 100 Moments: Marine History

Broward 100 Moments celebrates a century of our community's rich culture and economic growth.

The marine industry has been a vital part of Broward County's culture and economy. During WWII, business such as Dooly's Basin and Dry Dock, Inc. had secured government contracts to aid in the war efforts, manufacturing air rescue boats, sub chasers and mine sweepers.

Today, Broward's marine industry has evolved into one of the largest business and employment drivers in the state, generating 8.8 billion dollars and over 110,000 jobs.

It's no wonder Broward is the Yachting Capital of the World!
