Stolen Ferrari crashes into Miami utility pole, police cruiser after trying to flee, officials say
An investigation is underway in Miami after police say a stolen Ferrari crashed into a cruiser and utility pole in Brickell while trying to flee officers early Tuesday morning.
According to information provided by Miami police, a woman reported that her car had been stolen and was pinging to the area of Southwest 2nd Avenue and 17th Street.
Officers then responded to the area and said they saw someone get into the Ferrari and drive away. At that time, Miami police said they tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver tried to flee.
However, the driver of the stolen Ferrari lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a police cruiser as well as a utility pole.
Video of the incident showed the stolen Ferrari crashing into the pole and snapping it in half as it sliced through the vehicle, sending sparks flying through the area.
The driver, who hasn't been identified, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a laceration, according to police.
Two luxury cars stolen from Miami Beach, police say
According to the Miami Beach Police Department, officers were sent to the area of 4225 North Meridian Avenue to investigate reports of two stolen vehicles around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
The two vehicles were described as a 2025 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and a 2024 Ferrari Purosangue – the car believed to have been involved in the Brickell incident early Tuesday morning.
Police said that according to the initial investigation, the vehicles had been released to a third-party transportation company for delivery to a business outside of Miami Beach.
Several hours later, the business owner had contacted the vehicle owner to report that the vehicles never arrived.
The owner of the cars told police that the theft may have occurred while they were in transit.
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan was later recovered in Miami-Dade County, police said.
