Brickell Clinic Patient Tests Negative For Deadly Ebola Virus

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – State health officials said a patient who was transferred from an urgent-care clinic in Miami to a local hospital with Ebola-like symptoms was not at risk for the virus.

According to CBS4 news partner, The Miami Herald, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines were followed to determine the person was not at risk.

The patient, who was not identified because of privacy, had visited the Baptist Health Medical Plaza at Brickell and exhibited symptoms that prompted the staff to follow federal protocol set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Baptist Health spokeswoman Georgina Gonzalez-Robio told the paper.

This was the third time in recent weeks that a patient was given extra attention out of concern for Ebola virus, but did not have the virus.
