MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A judge denied bond for two teens  in the shooting death of a 6-year old boy.

Leonard Adams, 18, and Irwen Pressley, 17, appeared before a judge Thursday facing attempted first degree murder and second degree murder charges in connection to the death of King Carter. Both were denied bond and given assistant public defenders.

Court documents reveal Pressley was a known gang member.

Meantime, the mother of the first grader says she is grateful the community has stepped up to bring justice for his death.

"There's a little relief now but this is not going to bring him. That's the only thing that we got now. We got faith in the lord," said Monica Smith.

She went on,"It made me feel a lot better. That's why I'm so strong because I've got a lot of people behind me. We all are going to make it through."

Carter was killed after getting caught in crossfire while walking to the store to get candy over the weekend in northwest Miami-Dade County.

Help from the community and law enforcement landed the two teens behind bars on Wednesday in connection to his death.

The investigation continues. One person remains at large.  Miami -Dade Police said the two teens exchanged gunfire with a person identified as Juju which is the person police are looking for.

Police said the Pressley and Adams had beef with Juju on social media.

"I never heard about it before. It's the first I heard about it. I don't beef on social media," said Smith.

Investigators are also looking for an early 2000 black Lexus with possible bullet holes in connection to the case.

D'Oench spoke with Steven Jones who say he may have seen the car.

"Like everyone else, he came through, rolled around and slid through," said Jones. "We play cards back here. He came in, was looking around, slid through just like was looking for someone."

Meantime, the community remembers a loving little boy. A candlelight vigil for King Carter is set for 5:30 p.m. A viewing is set for Friday at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Miami. His funeral is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.

"It can happen to anyone's child. Who would want to bury their child. Who would want to lost their child, period," said Smith.  "He was only six but he had a big heart. That's why everyone was here going to show their love because they know him."

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at (305) 471- TIPS.
