Arriving deputies found the body of a man, identified as Roderick Henry, who had been shot at nearby Avondale Drive at NW 2 Street. It was near a fence at a DOC facility where people who just got out of prison live and leave for work.
The sheriff's office said the shooter ran off before deputies arrived.
It is unclear if Henry was connected to the facility.
The area surrounding the facility is residential. Neighbors said that people gather near the facility's fence on a nightly basis to hang out. They added that some inmates crawl through a hole in the fence to get out.
Neighbors said they were shocked to hear the latest gathering had turned deadly.
