Blue-Chip Recruit Bruce Brown Chooses Canes Hoops; Dewan Huell Next?

It could be a landmark day for Miami Hurricanes basketball, with Jim Larranaga landing an elite prospect this morning and another potentially on the way this afternoon as college basketball's early signing period wraps up.

Bruce Brown, ESPN's No. 30 ranked prospect in the country, chose Miami this morning over Indiana. The 6-foot-4 guard out of Vermont Academy in Massachusetts is comparable to Celtics guard Avery Bradley according to one scout, known for his ability as a "lockdown defender with a high motor."

Why'd he choose Miami? "They run pick-and-rolls," Brown said on ESPN. "I love pick-and-rolls. They pressure the ball. And also Angel [Rodriguez] and Sheldon [McClellan, UM's leading guards] are leaving,"

The Canes can land their second blue-chip recruit of the day this afternoon when local stud Dewan Huell out of Norland will decide between Miami and South Carolina at 1 p.m.

Huell is ESPN's No. 21 prospect in this year's class.
