Billick on Parker: 'Outstanding Instincts and Ball Skills'

The praise for the Miami Dolphins' selection of DeVante Parker in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft continues to pour in.

"Excellent pick," NFL analyst Brian Billick said on the Joe Rose Show on WQAM. "I think Miami is the prototype example of the team that was able to match need with where they were in the draft and that's not a coincidence.

"DeVante Parker, most people clearly had him in the first round. He's tall, smooth athlete, he's got outstanding instincts and ball skills. He's not necessarily explosive on the initial burst but he has good speed down the field."

Billick spoke of how Parker may be able to make an early impact as well after the success of several first-round rookie receivers last season.

"This is the next progression for Ryan Tannehill," Billick said. "You've got to give him as many weapons as you can to be good and in today's NFL that's why you saw six wide receivers taken in the first round. It's not like the old days. Because of the rules, they have a chance of contributing more in this first year -- just like we saw last year -- than we've ever seen so I think it was a great pick."
