Big Apple Favors Hometown Front-Runners Ahead Of Primary

NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSMiami) -- New York likes both presidential front-runners, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

The poll has Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump holding onto double-digit leads in their home state of New York just a few weeks before voters head to the ballot box.

Trump leads his closest opponent, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, with 56 percent of the support, compared to just 20 percent for Cruz. Ohio Gov. John Kasich trails close behind with 19 percent.

On the democratic side, Clinton maintains a slight lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders 54 - 42 percent.

New York's primary takes place April 19th.
