Bicyclist Arrested For DUI After Hitting Car

BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) -- A bicyclist was arrested after he allegedly hit a car and left a Boca Raton street while he was drunk.

According to the Sun Sentinel, Michael Quick, 46, sped away from the scene on Thursday after, police say, while riding his bike, he ran a red light at an intersection on South Dixie Highway and hit the front end of a car.

After the collision, the driver of the car got out to see if Quick was okay but Quick allegedly got back on his mountain bike and pedaled off.

Boca Raton Police arrested Quick on charges of driving under the influence, causing property damage, and hit and run.

Under Florida law a bicycle is considered a vehicle; therefore, anyone caught operating a vehicle while drunk can be charged with DUI.
