Tropical Storm Bertha Expected To Weaken Even More

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Bertha, the second named storm of this year's hurricane season, has lost some of her oomph and has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm.

As of 5:00 p.m., Bertha's maximum sustained winds were 50 mph and it was moving north-northeast at 21 mph.

Bertha was about 415 miles west northwest of Bermuda.

The already-weakened storm is expected to weaken more over the next 48 hours.

The system is forecast to take a turn to the northeast and increase in forward within the next two days.

On the forecast track, Bertha will pass between the U.S. and Bermuda on Tuesday.

Bertha is likely to become a post-tropical or extratropical cyclone on Wednesday.

There are no tropical storm watches or warnings in effect for this storm.
