Berrios on Welker Comparison: 'It's a Great Thing'

Being compared to Wes Welker after your first season of college football has to feel nice, right?

"It's a great thing," Braxton Berrios said of the comparison on the Joe Rose Show. "I am a slot receiver for the most part and Wes Welker is gonna be a Hall of Famer I believe, so that's not a terrible comparison. Obviously it puts you in a box basically, kind of like 'he is Wes Welker or he can't break out that box of Wes Welker,' so on that part it's a little here or there but it is what it is. You kind of don't listen to it after a certain amount of time."

The 5-foot-9 slot receiver snagged 21 receptions, 232 yards, and three touchdowns as a freshman and knows with the weapons the Canes possess on the outside, their offense can be dynamic.

"We can be very explosive," Berrios said. "We can easily run a high tempo offense and really tire out defenses and still rotate guys in so we don't get tired. We're very explosive, very fast, like you mentioned. And last year when we had to do it we did it and we did it well so it's proven there we can do it, it's just if we will get into it or not."
