Bay Harbor Islands Officer Injured In Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A Bay Harbor Islands police officer was injured in an early morning crash.

Chopper4 over the scene at 900 NE 125th Street found the officer's SUV had slammed into the side of a Chase Bank branch.

Lt. Luis Hormilla was heading east on 125th Street when a car pulled out in front of him and struck the passenger door on the driver's side. That sent Hormilla's SUV careening into the building.

Hormilla, who has been with the department for 20 years, was taken to Aventura Hospital where he was treated and released.

The other driver, identified by police as Guy Pierre, was cited for the crash and for driving with a suspended license.
