Miami Beach Police said they were first alerted to the robbery attempt when the panic alarm was triggered at the Bank of America at 1414 Alton Road. Upon arrival, officers saw the suspect run down the street and into a barber shop at 15th Street and Alton Road.

After refusing to exit the shop at first, the man eventually came out armed with a straight edge razor. He was surrounded by half a dozen officers, as well as dozens of bystanders in the area.

The suspect refused to drop the weapon during the confrontation and was fatally shot by officers.
