Authentic Italian Served Up At Ni.Do. Caffe

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - There's a lot going on inside the kitchen at the all new Ni.Do. Caffe on 110th and Biscayne Boulevard near Miami Shores. This is the second Ni.Do. of the family owned restaurants. The first is down the street in the MIMO district.

At the helm is executive Chef Claudio Sandri.

"Ni.Do. stands for 'niento domain', don't worry about tomorrow, live by the day, enjoy your day," said Sandri.

It's easy to enjoy the vibe and the food at Ni.Do. Caffe. It's casual, relaxed and "solo Italiano."

"We are just trying to be more close to the Italian-style cooking than possible with all the products we can find," said Sandri.

Those oroducts are for sale in the charming market which is part of the décor. Everything from Italian wines to specialized olive oils, mozzarellas and more.

"We are just trying to have the place to have more close to the Italian way, the feeling of being in grandma's house, homey," said Sandri.

From the kitchen come fish, pastas, anything and everything Italian-style. Sandri started CBS4's Lisa Petrillo off with an Antipasto Tower, three tiers of great appetizers.

"Olives and caponata on top, three kinds of mozzarella in the middle and three kinds of meat on the bottom layer," said Petrillo. "I feel like I'm in Tuscany, hanging out at a four hour lunch. I've got my wine and cheese. It's a good day."

Next came the ferroto bowl, an Italian grain made with fresh calamari, tomato sauce, capers, black olives and secret spices.

"There are so many different flavors that all compliment each other. You taste the flavor of the calamari and then the texture of the ferro. It's a really unique dish, it's delicious," said Petrillo.

For desert it was "Chocolato," a perfect piece of chocolate decadence with a touch of a caramel.

"This is chocolate heaven. It's not heavy because its not too big. God said put chocolate on your plate and this is it," said Petrillo.

Ni.Do. Caffe is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
