Attack Prompts Florida Wildlife Officers To Kill Four Bears

LAKE MARY (CBSMiami/AP) — One bear was killed, three other euthanized by wildlife officers after a central Florida woman was mauled by one outside her home over the weekend.

Forty-five year-old Terri Frana was attacked by a large bear in her driveway Saturday. Frana's husband said the bear had his wife's head in her mouth and dragged her about 4 feet toward a wooded area.

He said she managed to escape from the bear's jaw, and then ran inside the house, where she collapsed.

She was treated at a hospital and released.

Officials say the bear that was shot was aggressive and didn't react to them as a bear normally would.

Experts say this is the time of the year when bears leave their winter dens.
