Archbishop McCarthy High School Principal Out On Bond Following Arrest

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The principal of Bishop McCarthy High School Richard Jean is out on bond Wednesday evening after making his first appearance in court after his arrest.

He's accused of domestic violence after being arrested at his Miramar home.

"It's shocking," said student Cole Castro. "I just got here. I did not expect anything like this in this school."

Jean was arrested just after 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

In the police report, the victim told investigators Jean, "...became upset and attacked him." ...that Jean "...grabbed him and threw him to the ground."

That's when he said he "... ran from the residence in fear." He said Jean drove around looking for him.

The responding officer noted, "I observed bruising on the neck of the victim. I observed blood in the right ear of the victim."

He's suspended from his job by the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

This is not the first time we've reported an incident involving Jean.

About a year ago an ex-student was arrested, accused of attacking him.
