Apple Announces Security Fix To Stop Hackers

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Apple announced a security fix after it discovered a flaw in iPhones and other devices that could allow hackers to see private information.

Experts say the patch for the iOS devices prevents hackers from accessing email, instant messages, and even bank transactions while logged onto the same Wi-Fi.

However, they say it is unlikely that anyone illegally accessed that information.

The patch, iOS 7.0.6, fixes the issue in the most recent software available for iPhones, iPads and iPod touches.

A fix is not yet available for the OS X operating system, used on Macs. Apple says it is working on a software fix for OS X which should be available in coming days.

For the time being, Mac users should not log in through insecure or public networks.
