FLORIDA CITY (CBSMiami) -- Police have made an arrest in a violent robbery attack inside of a Florida City gas station.

Hialeah resident Wilter Jiron, 27, was taken into custody following an anonymous Crime Stopper's tip, officials announced.

The crime was caught on surveillance video on Saturday, August 6th, at the Shell on the corner of South Dixie Highway and Palm Avenue.

Detectives said Jiron was one of two men seen storming the store counter armed with a baseball bat and swinging at employees.

Eventually, one of the employees was able to grab the bat and strike back, forcing the crooks to flee from the store.

About $300 was taken from the cash register.

Jiron was charged with Strongarm Robbery with an aggravated battery, Aggravated Assault, Grand Theft while armed, and Criminal Mischief over $1,000 dollars while armed. He was booked into Turner Gilford Knight Correctional Center with more charges possible as the investigation continues.
