Animals Trapped In Sunrise House Fire

SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – A house went up in flames in Sunrise on Sunday with several animals trapped inside.

Neighbors called when they saw smoke coming from a home 3272 NW 123rd Ter.

Sunrise firefighters said the blaze started in the kitchen and may have been caused by a short circuit.

Luckily no one was inside of the time.

Rescue crews tried to save the trapped animals inside.

"At this time we are able to say we saved two cats. Unfortunately, we found four deceased cats and one deceased dog. The rest of the animals the remaining animals had already exited the structure," said Deputy Chief John McNamara.

Deputies contacted the American Red Cross to help the family.
