Amtrak Crash Victim Has South Florida Ties

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- One of the victims in the Amtrak crash in Philadelphia has ties to South Florida.

Robert James Gildersleeve, Jr., 45, died in the crash that happened on Tuesday evening. He was the 8th victim pulled from the wreckage.

Gildersleeve studied at Florida International University from 1990 to 1992. During that time, he earned a Bachelor of Science in General Hospitality Management and graduated with honors.

His parents also live on Singer Island.

Gildersleeve was married with children and worked for Ecolab.

The crash killed seven others and injured more than 200 people.
