MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- An accused shoplifter trying to get away ended up ramming straight into a Miami-Dade Police car, officers said.

Officers on scene told CBS4's Natalia Zea, a security guard from a Walmart located at NW 177th Street and NW 57th Avenue ran out and told a parked off-duty officer about an alleged shoplifting incident.

The officer - who was working an off-duty job at the store - got out of his patrol car and approached the alleged shoplifter in a car.

That's when, police say, the alleged shoplifter tried to escape and ended up ramming into the front of the cop's car before driving off.

Chopper4 was over the scene where pieces of the suspect car including the bumper could be seen on the ground. A shopping cart with a large television could be seen next to the debris.

About three to four Miami-Dade Police cop cars could be seen.

The officer was not injured in the incident.
