Alleged Police Impersonator Is Actually Federal Agent

TAMPA (CBSMiami) - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office was seeking information about a suspected police impersonator this week after the person stopped a woman and yelled at her. But it turns out there was a little more to the story.

The suspected police impersonator called the sheriff's office Thursday after seeing his image on the news. It turns out the alleged impersonator was an undercover federal agent.

The agent said the woman was speeding through a school zone and that he stopped her in a bank parking lot near Tampa. The agent said he told the woman he was an undercover agent.

She says he yelled before asking for her driver's license and registration. She says he returned her ID and yelled some more. When she asked him to either let her go, or give her a ticket, he told her he was only trying to scare her.
