Al Golden: Brad Kaaya 'Unified Us'

After a standout freshman campaign, big things are expected from quarterback Brad Kaaya in Year 2 as the Miami Hurricanes' starter.

Is there a noted difference in his leadership from a year ago?

"Now he's being a leader if not a commander," coach Al Golden said on the Joe Rose Show. "I think there's a difference there. This is clearly Brad's team. I think what Brad's done is unified us. I think Brad has brought everybody together. He's so unselfish and he sets such a high standard."

Golden is proud of the team's depth for the 2015 season, going from 75 players a year ago to 79 today.

"We're gonna miss Gus [Edwards] but at least we're at 79," Golden said, "and this is the first time since I've been the coach of the Miami Hurricanes that we had three-deep. We had a third unit that we actually scrimmaged on two occasions. We never had that and it was nice to have that. We developed a lot of guys and we developed a lot of depth by doing that."
