Airport Delays Begin As Winter Storm Wallops NE

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – As another winter storm takes aim at the northeastern United States, large-scale delays are expected at several key airports along the east coast.

According to flightstats.com, as of 3 p.m. there have been 3,322 flights canceled across the country and an additional 2,641 flights had been delayed.

The airports experiencing the most arrival and departure cancellations were all in the northeast where up to a foot of snow is possible. New York-area airports (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark) had seen a total of 927 arrival cancellations and 718 departure cancellations.

National Airport in Washington, DC (DCA) had seen 211 arrival cancellations and 76 arrival delays along with 191 departure cancellations and 29 departure delays.

In South Florida, Miami International Airport was reporting 21 arrival cancellations and 42 arrival delays plus 40 departure cancellations and 31 departure delays. Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport reported 30 arrival cancellations, 32 arrival delays and 47 departure cancellations, 34 departure delays.
