Advocates To Sign Up Uninsured At Calle Ocho

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — Taking their push to the people, advocates for the Affordable Care Act will be at Calle Ocho on Sunday.

Counselors will be at the fair to educate and enroll attendees who want in-person help signing up for health insurance.

The nonprofit group funding nationwide campaign Enroll America says many Latinos still lack information about financial subsidies and the March 31 enrollment deadline. Latinos have the highest uninsured rate of any ethnic group in the United States, with 31 percent in the U.S. going without insurance compared to 14 percent of non-Hispanic white Americans.

In Florida, 88 percent of new enrollees receive financial help to defray the cost of premiums.
