MIAMI SPRINGS (CBSMiami) -- Police are searching for people who stole 88 iPhones from a rental car parked at an IHOP in Miami Springs.

According to CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald, three men said they bought the iPhone 6 Plus models in Sarasota and drove down to South Florida to sell the phones.

The trio met with potential buyers in a Miami-Dade parking lot located in the 3500 block of Northwest 72nd Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. on October 27th, according to the police report.

The potential buyers, three men, pulled up in a Nissan Altima. They met with the sellers and a deal was reached but, according to the report, the potential buyers needed to come back with the money.

The sellers then drove off to eat lunch at an IHOP on Northwest 36th Street.

An hour later, the men discovered the phones valued at $60,000 were stolen.

Police told the paper they are looking for the bandits described as having black hair, beards, black eyes and about 5 feet seven inches tall.
