6 Boaters Rescued Off Coast Of Key Largo

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Six people were rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard boat crew off the coast of Key Largo.

Around noon Saturday, June 4th, Station Islamorada received a distress call from a person clinging to the hull of a 16-foot capsized boat near John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.

Coast Guard Sector Key West launched both a boat crew from Station Islamorada and an MH-65 helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami to respond.

Upon arriving on scene, crews recovered all six survivors from the water and the hull of the capsized vessel with the help of a good Samaritan. The survivors were then transferred to emergency medical services.

Three of the survivors were reported to have minor injuries.
