6.4 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Mexico

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Mexico Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

According to the USGS, the earthquake struck around 12: 00 p.m.

The earthquake epicenter was tracked to Guerrero located in southern Mexico. Nearby cities include Tecpan De Galeana, Atoyac De Alvarez, Petatlan, Coyuca, Acapulco and Mexico City.

Mexico is one of the world's most seismically active regions, according to USGS.

According to NOAA, a "destructive pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii."
