3-Year Old Dies In Miami Car Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A toddler was killed Tuesday evening after he was ejected from a car during an accident in Miami.

Police said Kayden Hart, 3, was pronounced dead at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He would have turned 4-years-old in November.

The deadly crash happened at NW 53rd Street and 18th Avenue. Investigators believe Kierra Lee,19, was speeding behind the wheel of a Chevy Yukon SUV headed westbound on NW 53rd Street, when she reportedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a Cadillac Seville, causing it to collide into a nearby home.

"I heard a boom and I came out and the girl was crying," said witness Cheryl Plez who said she called 911 for help. "The baby had a mouth full of blood. He wasn't talking. He wasn't responsive."

Family confirmed Kierra is the toddler's sister. It is unclear whether or not he was in a car seat.

Crews rushed the child along with his sister and a third victim, Jeffery Brinson, 41, to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Police said the child's father works at the hospital and found out about the accident as his son was being rushed into the emergency room where he was later pronounced dead.

"I didn't believe it until I saw him that he was gone," said Kayden's cousin Kloni Matthews.

Brinson remains in critical condition.

No one was injured inside the home that was hit.

Kierra is stable and being questioned by police.

"I can't believe this happened.  It happened so fast," said Kierra's friend Sonde Glover.

So far, no charges have been filed.
