DANIA BEACH (CBSMiami) -- A woman has been charged in the death of a man in Dania Beach.

"Broward Sheriff's Office was called to a scene in Dania Beach at an apartment where a man and a woman had apparently been arguing," said spokesperson Dani Moschella. "That argument escalated and she shot him."

The two knew each other for several years and worked together doing mechanical work on cars, deputies said.

They argued when King allegedly said he wanted to buy drugs, Allen told deputies.

The argument became physical, and Allen allegedly said King hit her twice in the face before she shot him.

Family members said the victim was known in the area.

"Everyone knew Billy as the mechanic here in Dania," said Mary Lockett, the  victim's sister.

Allen is facing a charge of  murder without premeditation.
