MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Three teenagers, all under the age of 16, were seriously hurt Friday morning following a bad crash.

It happened at N.W. 15th Avenue and 35th Street, leaving the teens' white SUV mangled and on its side in the middle of the road. Two other cars, which appeared to be parked, were damaged.

According to Miami Fire Rescue officials, other passengers fled the crash scene.

"Possibly five teenagers, maybe more, that were in the vehicle," said City of Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Ignatius Carroll. "We understand that some may have been ejected. But when paramedics got here, we found three people with injuries that required them to be transported to Ryder Trauma Center."

Geraldo Cardona, the father of one of the victims, said the vehicle belongs to a family member. However, he isn't sure if his 16-year-old son was the one behind the wheel.

Investigators are looking into what caused the crash.

Authorities are urging anyone who may be injured to come forward and get help.

"We probably had people that're doing something they're not supposed to, they get very scared and they obviously leave the area," said Lt. Carroll. "But the biggest concern is what kind of injuries did you sustain?"
