2 teens shot in Lauderhill, officials say

Two teenagers were injured in a shooting Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex in Lauderhill, according to authorities.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the 2000 block of NW 43rd Terrace, Lauderhill police said.

Lauderhill Fire Rescue transported a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old to Broward Health Medical Center, where both were listed in stable condition, officials said.

The 16-year-old was identified by a family member as Shiraj Reid. CBS News Miami has learned the injured teens are best friends.

Aerial footage from Chopper 4 showed police collecting evidence near a playground inside the apartment complex. A separate section of the property was roped off with yellow police tape.

Investigators have not identified a suspect and said the motive remains unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
