Man arrested after trying to stab 2 people to death in Deerfield Beach

A man is facing attempted murder charges after he was accused of trying to stab two people to death in Deerfield Beach early Sunday morning, the Broward County Sheriff's Office said.

BSO said they arrested 50-year-old Thelson Smith on two counts of attempted murder for his alleged involvement in the stabbings.

Just after 3:30 a.m., BSO deputies were called out to the reported stabbing near 200 SW 1st Terr., where they found two people suffering from stab wounds. Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue paramedics took them to a local hospital for treatment.

On the scene, BSO detained Smith and charged him accordingly.

BSO did not provide additional details regarding Smith's arrest or the circumstances surrounding the stabbings. The agency's Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Units are investigating the incident.
