2 Injured In Florida Helicopter Crash

VENICE, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) —A student pilot and teacher were injured in a helicopter crash  shortly after taking off,  Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies said.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Wendy Rose said the crash happened Tuesday evening after taking off from Venice Municipal Airport.

The Herald Tribune reports a sheriff's office helicopter crew located the downed aircraft shortly after it crashed.

Officials say a woman with injures to her face and head was flown to a hospital in Sarasota. An ambulance took a man to a Venice hospital. Deputies say he was walking and talking after the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified of the crash.
