Thousands Of Runners Flock To 18th Annual Life Time Miami Marathon

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The 18th annual Life Time Miami Marathon has its winners.

Saidi Juma Makula of Tanzania was the fastest male, clocking a time of 2:21:59.

Aydee Loayza Huaman of Peru was the fastest female, recording a time of 2:46:52.

Thousands of runners headed out to Downtown Miami at around 6 a.m. Sunday for the event.

There were several road closures as a result of the race, which police slowly reopened throughout the morning.

The race started at the American Airlines Arena. Runners then headed towards Miami Beach. They then headed back all the way down to Coconut Grove and then back up to Downtown Miami.

All the runners will be off the roads by 2 p.m.
