150 Children To Be Sworn In As U.S. Citizens In Miami

MIAMI (CBSMiami)-- A group of young adults became U.S. citizens at two South Florida ceremonies on Friday.
An estimated 150 children, under the age of 14, are set to take the Oath of Allegiance among family and friends during two naturalization ceremonies.
There was a morning ceremony and another set for 1:00 p.m.
The ceremonies are at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office located at 14675 SW 120 Street.
It's a real life dream for many of children who came to this country several years ago.
""I've been dreaming of this as long as I could remember," said Mariana Samari who attended the morning ceremony.
CBS4's Marybel Rodriguez asked Samari, "How is this going to change your life?"
"I could vote now. I want to make a difference and I am very excited about that," said Samari.
MariAnna Samari's family traveled from Peru for the special occasion. They joined the dozens of families proudly stood by their children taking pictures and videos as they were sworn in Friday morning.
"It is a great opportunity in their life because in my country, I did not have that opportunity. God bless America," said mother Mayra Bruzon.
The department said the annual event is not only a time to recognize new Americans, but also remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s fight for equality, justice and opportunity for all Americans.
