NAPLES (AP) — A 15-year-old female cheetah has died at the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens.

Zoo officials say Ngoma was euthanized Friday due to the cheetah's declining health.

Ngoma arrived at the Naples zoo in 2012 with mate Steelman, who died in December at age 15.

The pair had lived together for six years, first at a Florida conservancy and then at Busch Gardens in Tampa before arriving in Naples. Zoo officials say they were among the oldest cheetahs in the United States.

Officials say cheetahs typically live eight to 12 years.
