LAUDERDALE LAKES (CBSMiami) – A young boy was injured in a shooting at a Broward apartment building.

Authorities say the boy was shot in the behind at the Seawind Lakes Apartments located on Northwest 36th Street.

According to Fire Rescue workers, they transported a 12-year-old boy with minor injuries.

Broward Sheriff's detectives worked into the night, eventually placing an unidentified male in handcuffs and detaining him.

"Someone said they were looking for a shooter," said Patricia, a resident of the apartment.

It's still not clear what led to the shooting or who else was involved.

Deputies kept the crime scene area clear for several hours, keeping residents from returning to their homes.

"I am tired and I am hungry," said resident Emma Pitt. "I want to go home."

Some expressed frustration at the seemingly never ending violence.

"This is crazy," said Patricia. "These people just need to straighten up. They really do."

Anyone with additional information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
