MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized Monday night after being shot multiple times in southwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade police said Eric Watson Jr. was visiting his grandmother's home near SW 136th Place and 263rd Terrace.

They said Watson was hanging out with some friends outside when someone came by and started shooting shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police they heard five to six shots fired.

"I just saw people outside and the cops were already getting here. Somebody was on the floor with blood all over," said a witness who lives in the neighborhood.

Watson ended up being hit three times in the upper torso and collapsed.

He was airlifted to Nicklaus Children's Hospital alert and talking.

Investigators are now going door to door trying to figure out who did this.

"We're asking for the public's help and we're asking for the members of this community if you see something, say something," said Det. Marjorie Elio.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
