DADE CITY (CBSMiami/AP) — Twelve goats were fatally shot according to a Pasco County farmer.

The dead animals were found Wednesday on property owned by 77-year-old Ruel Green in Pasco County, north of Tampa.

A deputy found 13 goats with bullet wounds. Eight were already dead. Four were suffering and near death and officials said the deputy used his firearm to end their suffering.

Another goat was in the chicken coop, shot in the hip and appeared healthy enough to live.

Two other goats weren't shot.

Sheriff's detectives are looking for a suspect and are considering felony animal cruelty charges.
