10 New Non-Travel Related Cases Of Zika Cases

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Florida Department of Health announced Monday there are 16 new Zika cases across the state.

There were a total of 10 new non-travel related cases.

One case is associated with the Miami Beach investigation.

Another case is Palm Beach resident and the department is investigating where exposure occurred.

Five cases are Miami-Dade residents and the point of exposure is being investigated.

Three are cases from July associated with Wynwood that the department just received additional confirmatory test results from CDC.

The DOH wanted to stress the Wynwood cases "do not affect the lift of the Wynwood zone as all had symptom onset in July."

As for the six travel-related cases, two were in Broward, two in Miami-Dade, one in Collier and one in Polk.

There are currently 105 non-travel-related Zika cases in Florida and 689 travel-related cases. Of those cases, 90 pregnant women have been infected.
