MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- A woman has died and another was hospitalized after a gunman opened fire inside a Miami restaurant.

Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, the Latin Cafeteria Restaurant was busy and full of customers, when a man walked in and opened fire on two employees, police said.

"He struck both of the victims and one was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second one was transported to Kendall Regional in critical condition," said Miami-Dade Police Det. Robin Pinkard.

The suspect got away in a green Jeep Cherokee.

Family members arrived to the scene inconsolable and needing restraint by officers.

"If you're going to kill someone, come here and kill me," reporters were told in Spanish by Roberto Hernandez, one of the victim's brother-in-law. "Don't kill the others!"

Police have not released details on a motive or possible connection between the killer and the women.

"They may be known to the subject," said Det. Pinkard. "We don't believe this is a random act of violence."

Hours after the incident, another shooting occurred. The suspect's green Jeep Cherokee is believed to have been at the scene, near S.W. 112th Avenue and Bird Road. It's unclear, however, if it's connected to the earlier shooting.
