1 Killed, 1 Injured When Train Heading From S.Fla. Hit A Car

CARY, N.C. (CBSMiami/AP) — A woman is dead and a man seriously injured after their car was struck by an Amtrak train heading to New York From Miami.

Town of Cary spokeswoman Susan Moran said the accident occurred Thursday morning at a rail crossing on Southwest Maynard Road. The woman was declared dead at the scene. A man pulled from the wreckage was transported to WakeMed in Raleigh.

Their names have not yet been released.

The northbound Silver Star was heading inbound to Cary's Amtrak station on a route between Miami  and New York City. Moran says none of the 291 passengers on board the train was injured.
