Zardes, Galaxy Dominate Chivas USA, 3-0

CARSON, Calif. (CBSLA.com/AP) — Gyasi Zardes scored twice to lead the L.A. Galaxy over Chivas USA 3-0 on Sunday.

In the 41st minute, Landon Donovan made a run through midfield and found Zardes on the left wing, who fired a one-timer from the top corner of the box past goalkeeper Dan Kennedy for the lead.

Robbie Keane faked out Jhon Kennedy Hurtado at the top of the box and lobbed the ball over Kennedy, who was caught in no-man's land, for a 2-0 lead at the 68-minute mark.

Zardes made it 3-0 in the 71st minute after a nifty set of passes and misdirection between Donovan and Keane.

The Galaxy are 13-5-7, two points off the lead in the Western Conference behind Seattle. Chivas USA falls to 6-13-6 and is mired in a seven-game winless streak — six straight without goals.

The last time a player other than Erick Torres scored a home goal for Chivas was back on March 9.
