2 Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On 210 Freeway In La Cañada

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE (CBSLA) — Two people were killed early Sunday morning when a wrong-way driver slammed into another car on the 210 Freeway in La Cañada Flintridge.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes near the Angeles Crest exit.

One driver was transported to the hospital but did not survive. The second driver was declared dead at the scene.

CBS2's Joy Benedict reported from the scene.

She spoke to the family of one driver who was not ready to talk on camera. But they said their son (believed to have been the driver headed in the correct direction) was a ride-share driver who had just dropped his last passenger.

A spokesperson for Uber issued a statement about their driver, 24-year-old Bruce Alvarenga of Panorama City.

"We are deeply saddened to hear about this horrible accident and our hearts go out to Bruce's family during this tragic time," they said.

The other driver was identified as 34-year-old Kevork Khamisian of Sun Valley.
