'Worst Home In Best Neighborhood' Listed For $475,000 Already Has 5 Offers

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — For nearly half a million dollars, prospective home buyers could become the new owners of a real fixer-upper.

The nearly 1,300-square-foot property at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in the San Fernando Valley is surrounded by homes with manicured lawns.

Yet, the three-bedroom, two-bath home on Itasca Street is described by Dave Walter, its listing agent, as "one of the ugliest homes" he's seen "in his entire career."

Walter gave CBS2 a tour inside, and it was jaw-dropping!

From a bathroom with a huge hole in the ceiling to roots growing in the shower and even a kitchen covered in filth. Dirt, dust and cobwebs also plagued the home on every surface.

"It's a home and it is real estate, and someone is going to transform it and make it something real special," he said.

The Northridge home has five offers and counting.

Walter says the sellers are only entertaining all-cash offers.

"This is truly the worst home in the best neighborhood," its ad described. The list price: $475,000.

Ben Keisari, a real estate investor, visited the home.

His reaction?

"A haunted house, you know? Something from a movie," he said.

Despite its current condition, Walter says it's not a tear-down.

And Keisari says the uglier, the better because you can get a better deal.

He says he'd take the house down to the studs and it'd take him about four months to fix the home.

It can't happen soon enough for one of the home's neighbors. Despite living near the home for decades, she had no idea the conditions inside were so poor.
